Articles: NEA Sidesaddle Association September 2009 Clinic

Return to Articles Index

NEA's sidesaddle clinic held at Kilgore Farm in Greenville, NH was a well-rounded success. Thanks! to Daphne Taylor for making arrangements at this lovely facility.

Riders included Nashoba Valley Hunt members tuning up for the season, a well-traveled parade and promotion rider, a rider preparing for a gaited horse dressage aside demo at Equine Affaire, and several novice riders enhancing their skills (as well as a good-sport gentlemen who wanted to see for himself what this was all about.)

While most were from the New Hampshire area, several ladies had traveled from western NY for the opportunity to ride with clinician Gail DiScipio. Sidesaddle mounts ranged from a diminutive Arabian to a Percheron cross field hunter, with TB, Paint, QH, Appaloosa and Walking Horse in between--a good cross section of the equine world.

Daphne Taylor took us down membory lane at lunch time with videos of her daughter taken when Cecily was 8 years old and competing aside on her pony. Cecily now has a little girl of her own, and that original 14" sidesaddle is refurbished and waiting for the next generation.

NEA's final clinic of the year will be held October 17, when we'll be returning to Bramble Hill Farm in Pomfret, CT. ( go to http://www.bramblehillfarmct.com/pages/shows.html for photos of NEA's spring event) There are indoor and outdoor rings so it will be "rain or shine," 'tho we are certainly hoping for another lovely Indian Summer day.

Bramble Hill has lesson horses and day stalls by reservation, and quality sidesaddles are available for those who don't yet have their own. For more information, you can e-mail me at sidesaddleheaven@ aol.com Auditors always welcomed, with no charge for judges, Pony Club and 4-H'ers. Hope to see you there!

Our thanks to Sue Tobin for the writeup to share!
